“Fat-free”, “low-fat”, “zero fat”, “light”. It seems like everywhere we turn around we are told that fat is bad. Not necessarily. Not all fats are created equal: there are good fats and bad fats. We know who the bad guys are: all fats from fast food, most packaged foods such as cookies, snacks, prepared meals, fried foods and desserts. These fats clog our arteries, cause diabetes, excess weight, cardiovascular problems, low energy and acne.

Healthy fats, on the other hand, are a different story. They are necessary for good physical and emotional health, since they strengthen our immune system, nourish our brain, contribute to the growth of bones and muscles, build our nervous system and combat depression. Plus, they are the key factor for beautiful and healthy skin and hair.

Where can we find the healthy fats? Healthy fats are found in avocados, good quality butter, olive oil, nuts, almonds and salmon. You can sprinkle flaxseed on your salads, prepare home-made lemonade with chia seeds. Dietary supplements such as Omegas, vitamin E and primrose oil are also good sources of healthy fats.

If you want radiant skin and hair, better mood and more physical and mental wellbeing, healthy fats are the way to go!
